Carnival Liberty has encountered various incidents during its voyages, showcasing its crew’s preparedness and adaptability:
- Norovirus Outbreak (November 2006): Over 700 people contracted the contagious norovirus during a transatlantic voyage. Carnival Cruise Lines took extensive measures for cleaning and prevention.
- Cuban Refugee Rescue (August 2014): The ship rescued 11 Cuban refugees from a makeshift raft in stormy conditions.
- Engine Room Fire (September 2015): An engine room fire occurred while the ship was in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. All hotel services on the ship remained functional, and passengers were allowed to re-board on the night of September 7.
